Armsmaster's Vehicle Arena
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Armsmaster's Vehicle Arena (AVA) is a casual top-down multiplayer arena shooter. The game uses Unity Relay to establish network connections. Additional multiplayer features like Lobbies or Matchmaking were disabled to avoid bad UX when using free Unity tier.
##########################
As a result of the design choice above the game can be played ONLY in groups by sharing the Join Code. No solo matchmaking queue available.
##########################
The game has the following features:
- 1 multiplayer level with up to 20 players (tested with up to 4 players);
- the match time limit of 5 minutes;
- gather energy and spend it for repairs, the energy determines the winner of the match;
- 3 weapons: laser (plasma) gun, rocker launcher, ray gun;
- the player vehicle (buggy) uses Unity's wheel collider physics, can jump to unstuck;
- WSAD to move, SPACE to jump, LEFT MOUSE BUTTON to fire, MOUSE to aim.
Some features which were not developed/shipped, but potentially can be included in the future releases:
- In-game help and hints;
- Additional 2 levels;
- Lobbies support;
- Match time limit configuration;
- A proper freeze time when players cannot move;
- Additional weapons (mines, grenade launcher, guided missiles etc.);
- Reset functionality to unstuck your vehicle;
- Support SteamDeck controls;
- Player vehicle selection;
- Simple in-game text messaging;
- Server pause functionality;
- Custom controls assignment;
- Updated visuals;
- Single-player.
Known bugs:
- The players can move and attack during the freeze time;
- The time left not always synchronized correctly;
- The players can stuck sometimes (try jumping using SPACE).
The system requirements are unknown, the game had limited hardware exposure.
